Hat Trick at Mongolian Hot Pot

December 12, 2016 § Leave a comment

Such delicious food! I took my baby out to Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot in Falls Church, VA and we scored the ultimate hat trick – beef, pork, and TWO kinds of lamb. They bring you a pot of soup broth and you order the meat, seafood, and veggies you want. Put them in the soup pot and let them cook away.

If you live near here, go check this place out in the Eden Center. You will love it!

Leg of Lamb

So cute. So delicious. Leg of lamb, you are one of my favorite meats. I can only eat you when I forget that you are so cute with your sweet little wagging tail and puffy wool. How I worry for you on cold, wet nights, when I imagine you freezing and waterlogged at the farm, heavy with nature’s tear drops. No doubt nature is crying for your imminent loss, for when you are slaughtered and carved and end up on my plate. It makes me sad to think about.

But you are just so damned delicious.

Goat Curry from Minerva

Minerva is an Indian buffet near where I work that has some of the best food I have ever had. Of course, if Indian isn’t your thing, you probably won’t care for it. However, my coworker Troy and I seem to end up there about once a month. It’s great food, not too far away, and not a terrible price.

One of their specialties, it seems, is goat curry. I am of two minds when it comes to this dish. On one hand, there is a goat farm near my office and I sometimes drive out of my way to see the cute little critters scamper about, all playful-like. Presently they even have babies. It is adorable.

On the other hand, goat is just so damned tasty. Minerva makes the cuteness fade away into deliciousness with a slightly spicy curry sauce and what must be hours of simmering. Chunks of gamey meat soak in the sauce, becoming more and more tender as it sits on the buffet.

Cuteness never tasted so good.
